Mounting a scope on a Mauser

Hi All. I normally shoot TR with my Mauser but our club has recently started shooting F Class so I want to be able to put a scope on it.
Is there an off the shelf mount that will fit? Or an easy way to add a rail? There are 2 holes at the rear of the action but none at the front and I would like to avoid having to get a gunsmith to drill and tap if possible as the gun isn't worth much so isn't worth spending money on.

Ah, I should have mentioned, my Mauser has been re-barreled and doesn't have that sight fixture.

Not at all, either type of turret mount on a K98k is very useable. A cheek extension as used on the Lee-Enfield No.4T sniper rifle would be better, but it's still not a huge issue.

OP, there is a "no gunsmith" pic rail mount that you can get for a K98k, but not sure whether it would work on a TR modified Mauser action. I suspect you'll have no option but to drill and tap for a commercial type scope mount, if you can find a suitable one from somewhere?

I am not sure why you would want to do that anyway but what ever floats your boat. I believe I have a drilling jig some were thats used for acuratelly drilling and tapping for a scope mount. But were it is now a days in my Sheds would take forever to find.

Thank you for the thought, but I have access to a full machine shop with CNC mill so I could drill it pretty accurately should I choose to do it myself...

I have found this, which appears the 2 holes at the rear "should" line up with those already in my action. I could possibly get away with drilling and tapping 1 hole at the front. For the sake of £30 its worth a try.

This one is steel and a good make. It looks like it would sit better on the rifle. If I was doing it this is the mount I would go for.
