It is too well finished to be a version of the Asperley Aimless.

You may be right Dromia, although I believe this may be the very rare, long barreled, two band target model. Quite collectable in this original condition with it's naive charm and genuine patina.

Could be, hard to tell with the poor quality image.

If it is then it is missing Asperly's equally rare Free Floating Invisible foresight that were supposed to be standard on all of the three two band target models made.

I believe there is one in the Royal Armouries museum in Leeds, complete with the self aligning aperture sight. (Never seen it myself)

When I enquired about their Asperly they denied all knowledge of it and actually insisted that it was a fictitious gun.

Just shows how little they know.

The first Self Aligning aperture sight that Asperly made he tested inside his barn and none of the 53 shots fired were ever found, a gun designer of pure genius.
