Lee pro 4 lead pot blocked

#1 Post by dirtbag »

I have just acquired a 2nd hand lee pro 4 smelting pot as an intended upgrade from my production pot.
The spowt is blocked (assume dirt grime) , its proper solid though. Just wondered before I drill out that the spowt hole is meant to be going directly downwards. Worst case scenario I see lee sell the part , which appears to be threaded.

Thanks in advance.

I use a large paper clip to keep the spout clear when the pot is at temperature. You just need to be careful.

Thanks very much. Cleared the hole, contained, dirt, dust, and some other metal (not lead). Used a dremel with a long thin pilot hole maker tip.

Yeah.
When it is full of molten metal, it may still freeze up solid. When casting and this happens, a small panel pin held in long nose pliers is used after a blast with a propane torch to free up the spout from the outlet. Happens.

I find that it helps if you empty it out completely between use, and clear out all the debris from the bottom & side of the pot.
