We are calling it a day

Had a good experience with a gun shop or rifle maker? Found a good deal? Tell us about it. Had a bad experience, TELL THE GUN SHOP!

Forum rules
Posting of negative comments in the Gunshop section could bring unwanted criticism on the forum, having said that it is important to let members know if dealings with a Gunshop were less than ideal for you. To that end we will allow what will be known as the 'Scotsgun Ruling'

The Scotsgun Ruling:

>Add Gun Shop here<

"As I've yet to have a 'positive' experience there, I'll refrain from commenting further."

Beyond that please take it up with the Gunshop, if you do resolve the issue in a agreeable manner let us know!

This rule applies to the entire forum.

We are calling it a day

#1 Post by Ovenpaa »

As some of you may already know, I managed to tear and detach the retina in my right eye quite badly recently, so shooting is not going to be an option and it is a struggle working on guns and machines without depth perception.

I have no idea how long it will be before I am fully healed and with what level of sight, so Christel and I have decided to retire from the gun trade and move on to pastures new. I fancy more sailing time and the Viking tells me she needs Chickens.

So retirement comes a year early for me and I think I am going to enjoy it.

The only problem with retirement, is that you never get a day off......

Good luck,

Sorry to hear that ...

You can be sure that with chickens you will not be able to give up shooting - a decent PCP air rifle will be essential for the inevitable rats, so time to learn to shoot one left handed.

Good luck for your retirement. I still enjoy shooting the 308 you built for me and the work was top notch. I had hoped to get you to make a moderator for my Aug, but I shouldn't have waited so long....

For me retirement meant working for a new boss --- the wife as in now you've nothing else to you can do - x y z jobs and mow the grass more often.

I'm sorry to hear that you need to call it a day, but I hope that you and Christel both find something new to do. Life is a journey ... go out and enjoy it!

Sorry to hear you're moving on to another chapter in your life. I hope your eye problem continues to improve over time and you can get back on the tools again.. Plenty of room to build a boat in the chapel workshop.:) Best wishes to you both.
