Hi there, I am considering a slot for a muzzle loading revolver and wondered if anyone has any views or experiences of the Starr please ?
I would be looking at an original and have seen that there are plenty about. I was considering an Adams, but moving towards the Starr as it appears easer to disassemble and keep clean. I like the idea of the thumb screw and the pivoting frame.

Views on this is of course welcome, and would be much appreciated.

I had the single action and a friend had the double. Big, clumsy, heavy and surprisingly fragile. Both shot Ok.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that its not a true double action.
Something about a trigger pull that cocks and indexes the action and a further small trigger mounted in the rear of the trigger frame that releases the hammer. Am I correct I`m sure there are other forum members more knowledgeable with respect to the Starr action.

Hi Mauser, you are correct , hence why I put in quote "double action" , some daw revolvers use the same concept.

I said "fragile" because I was asked to repair a double action model which had been dropped on the range. The barrel had moved out of line, affecting the indexing of the cylinder. I tried, but was not happy with the result. What surpised me, was how easy it was to bend the whole thing. i used a range rod to try to correct the alignment and got close, but not perfect.
