I have a Mateba Grifone which needs work doing to it, and I don't tend to use it that much. They seem to go for serious money in the US, and although this one is UK specific, the modifications could be reversed by a competent machinist. So buyers in the US would likely want it, and there are people there with spares too.

Question is, what are the practicalities of selling a firearm to the US as a private individual, they don't need an FAC equivalent, and how would a firearm getting shipped in a legal manner?

You would need an export licence , they would need an import licence .
You would need to be selling to a dealer or imported , probably not a private buyer .

You cant just pop it in the post , you would need a proper export company who are used to exporting firearms . Try PBS they will give you a rough idea how much it will cost , and how long it will take to get all the required paperwork together .

You would need to tell your local plod , that its gone as well .

And of course how do you let buyers/dealers in USA know its for sale .

If it's a LBR/Revolving rifle with rear extension bar/stock:- bear in mind US barrel lengths as it may be classed as a short barrelled rifle which will further complicate things.

Letting buyers in the US know is the easy bit, just respond to them on a forum.

No its a Federal thing. If the gun was built as a rifle (presumably the US definition) then the barrel must be 16" or longer, otherwise it requires an NFA tax stamp which is more or less the equivalent of our FAC procedure, but shockingly can take even longer and costs $200
