This all sounds a bit fishy.........surely the proof house is only responsible for checking that the rifle will withstand the pressure when fired with the cartridge that it's designed for.

they passed my gun and there's no way they had go or no-go gauges for it.

anyway alpha, like I say, If you are doing the reaming yourself, to your own gun, then why are you worried about proof? You don't need it. You would only need it to sell the gun

I have CIP go and no go gauges but I don,t have CIP reamers. I have given up trying to buy CIP reamers in the UK.

So I should have them just cut the chamber using a Saami reamer and gauges and all will be good once its proofed.
I have also had no luck buying a barrel blank in the UK because I am not trade or a registered fire arms dealer. So all though I could chamber it my self its un likely unless some one can let me know were I can obtain a blank.

You should be able to buy a blank as they are completely unlicensed and not a firearm part. Who have you tried?
If the seller doesn't want to sell it that's their decision but you don't need to be a dealer or in the trade.

I bought a couple of blanks a while back without any hassle, mainly because I wanted to try Bergara, and all the usual suspects only seemed to stock yank makes.
And for the record, they're excellent, far better than the price would suggest.....

I always thought that a blank was nothing more than a tube until it was chambered.
