Shotgun with 2 1/2" Chambers - Can I use 67mm Cartridges

Please can anyone offer a definative answer in respect of the maximum correct metric leght of shotgun cartridge that I can use in a 2 1/2" 12ga English shotgun.
I am confused with the 65mm / 67mm scenario.

I have a old box of Eley International Game cartridges. On the lid it says case length 67.5mm and for chambers 65mm 21/2 inches. So, according to Eley, you can use 67mm cases in a 2 1/2 inch or 65mm chamber. I presume they think it is safe or they would not put it on the box.

Yes, you can use 67,0mm just about, however it is worth checking the actual chamber length. Chamber lengths do tend to vary somewhat on English guns and if there is any doubt get the chambers checked or get your hands on a chamber length gauge. I make my own.
