I’ve recently become aware of the Mannlicher Schoenauer Greek issue military rifles. The rotary magazine really appeals to me. I would like a carbine version and I don’t mind if it’s a 1903 or 1930 although the earlier one is probably the more desirable one.
Can anyone tell me what are the chances of getting one of these in the uk and what price range I’m looking at? I have no idea if they are particularly rare but haven’t had much joy looking on-line for military variants.

I had a chance to buy a Greek carbine a few years ago but I was interested in something else at the time. By the time I thought I should have bought it when it was available, it was gone. I have only seen one other Greek Mannlicher, a long rifle but in poor condition, the bore looked ruined, so I left it.

Have a word with John at Lancashire Classic firearms. I know it is the sort of thing he keeps an eye out for as I gave him a box of 160 grain round nose bullets for one of his recently.

I have the earlier M1901 with a rotary magazine chambered in 6,5x54MS, mine was converted to a sporting take down rifle by George Gibbs for a Scottish heart specialist. They are a work of art internally and a delight to shoot.

Cheers, I had a nice chat with John today but he says he hasn’t seen one in the last three years but he will keep an eye out for me. I also learnt how to pronounce Schoenauer which was a great relief.
