Posting load data from 23/2/2021!

All handloading data posted Full-Bore UK from 23/2/2021 must reference the published pressure tested data it was sourced from, posts without such verification will be removed.

Any existing data without such a reference should treated as suspect and not used.

Doesn't that mean that only reloading manual data can be posted, and not what has worked for a particular person?? 5mith

Surely a general disclaimer on the front of the Reloading forum can take care of any 'legal issues'??

So we can't talk about loads any more, but devoting a forum to Pens is fine. What about a new heading for Pencils?

Jesus the blinkered negativity of some of you is beyond belief.

All that is required is for you to reference the pressure tested printed data source that you have based your loads on no one has said not to share your experiences.

It isn't snowflakey or litigation motivated it is just good practice.

Too often we get someone usually new to handloading if not just the calibre calling for loads and everyone piles in with their favourite. That information is not directly transferrable to someone else's situation or equipment and good hand loading practice dictates that people develop their own loads from tested sources. Saying it works and is safe in your gun is only relevant to you no one else and when you develop loads on your own without data that is up to you but unless they are pressure tested you really don't know how safe they are, velocity and god forbid primer condition are very poor proxy indicators of pressure and safety.

The fact that some people think that poor handloading practice on here is desirable is beyond me and completely irresponsible.

If you don't like pens then don't visit the forum, why make life difficult for yourself.

This is not up for discussion it is here to let you know, if referencing your source is too much trouble then don't bother posting and if you are developing a load with out the basis of tested data to go form then definitely don't post.

Is something like this acceptable?

Using strain gauge technology is way better than inspecting sheep's entrails the primer checking way. However I would still need to see the original data source that you have based your load development 'pon listed as the source, obviously the SAAMI/CIP standards are helpful in your case as maximum pressure for whatever cartridge but you will still have needed a recommended starting point before testing you first loads, that is what is required.

Most hand loaders need the printed tested data to give a load development starting point, there is no shortcut to that although some people seem to think there is and that is what we are trying to address here.

I get where Adam is coming from it's not just here. Facebook is the worst place in the World for this sort of thing. There are lots of reloading groups and people asking for load data and some of them obviously not very clued up or total newbie,s people are just quoting loads they are using that supposedly works for them without any reference as to where the starting data came from. An accident just waiting to happen.

If my pen posts are an issue delete them. I don't have a problem with you deleting them.

Your pen posts are a welcome addition to the forum.

Re safety and reloading, nothing is more important.

We hopes any pencils you might mention are lead free...
