Have you ever been pulled over by the Police while having firearms in your car and if so what happened?

Just curious because this morning while driving to the range a Police Skoda sat behind me for a little while and although they dont worry me as my car is all legal i did wonder what happens.Chances are the chap just happened to be going my way and my 15 year old car didnt get his spidey sense tingling!

Te advice I have been given (by BASC I believe) is not to stop unless you are 11% certain they are real! If the signal you to stop - drive to a populated place or police station. Or wait for a second or third car to arrive but don't break the law. If you then tell them why you would not stop initially - you were not 100% certain and because you have firearms the should understand.

Never been stopped but have had police cars tag along behind for a while when I have been carrying firearms. If asked to pull over I think I would do so however I would keep the doors locked, engine running and windows up and ask them what the problem was, and call 999 if I had the sniff of a worry about it.

They know where I am shooting...not been stopped.

Thank you for the link DM.I had replied to it,but oddly completely missed Sims reply which would have anwsered my question.

ps.I always have ID on me regardless.If i was to be injured/killed in an accident atleast they would know who i am.

A few months ago, driving across the Erskine Bridge with a covered Marlin lying on the back seat, I was overtaken by a BMW Traffic Car with one of these rear facing Cameras on the roof. It overtook me drew to the left and stopped, forcing me to overtake it, whereby it then followed me and Blue Lighted me on the off ramp.

A wee lassie Cop, by herself, came over and expressed concern that I was only doing 42mph and the bridge has a 70 limit, saying somebody may rear end me. I replied there was no minimum speed limit and considering the road is wet I wouldn't want to have an accident especially as I'm carrying a Firearm. I then asked did I commit an absolute offence, she said no, but she could charge me with careless driving - Noting she was alone I said not by yourself you couldn't you need two witnesses in Scotland.

Anyhoo, I decided to quit being a smart ass and said I was on my way to shoot targets made up to look like a man and that she was welcome to come along and relieve her tension.

She burst out laughing and sent me on my way, no mention of Firearms. I wonder though did she do a PNC check with her big scary Camera and maybe it came up with a Firearms marker??

i got stopped for no seatbelt and when they checked the vehicle they were convinced it was not insured (its on my traders policy so they dont allways show up without them making a call)
They were dead keen to confiscate the car especially as i had no ID
So i told them i had 2 shotguns and 1000 of 12 bore in the boot so best they called firearms to pick them up as they cannot confiscate the guns .
Well they didnt have a clue what to do ,they got on the radio confirmed my name and address details also confimed i had a sgc and an fac then told me to go on my merry way ..

While in practise that's what they would do,any police officer can indeed take your firearms.
