Straight pull AR

#1 Post by Blighty »

Does anyone have hands on experience of either the latest offerings from Schmeisser or Lantac?

I like the look of both (Schmeisser M5FL and Lantac Raven) however just how much more do you get for the money with the Raven?

Tried both in my club. The Schmeisser felt what ARs felt like in the Army. That mass produced utilitarian aspect that military guns have about them. The Lantac felt like a well made rifle. Both performed, but the Lantac was more preferable. Comparable to my own Bradley and SGC.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I have a Valkyrie, good rifle but not as well finished as a Lantac I used. Don't get me wrong, mine is a nice rifle.

As for fit and finish as well as accuracy, SCG are good, more than that they are really good. My biggest regret was letting my SGC go, even so that I now I have another SCG upper to my Valkyrie lower for Irons.

I have a LMT in .308 and I am very happy with it. I would say it is above the Lantac in quality but I am basing that on my Lantac Raven in .22lr not a straight pull .223. This is no way a knock against Lantac's though, they are a very good rifle and you would not be disappointed by one.

I know Nick St Aubyn now runs Bradley Arms, if his work is up to the standard of Marks, that might be another option.

I think my BAR has the quality edge on my Lantac 22, but not by much.
Careful now/that sort of thing
