To tolerate someone is to insult them............you're really telling them "I'll put up with you/your opinions/ideology or whatever, if I have to, but I'd much rather you didn't exist"

A completely different scenario to accepting them................

One thing I will say to you TRG is that you took my intial reply to Badger, which was more intended to be a throwaway tongue in cheek reply to him talking about inclusiveness than anything else, far to seriously and literally. That said it gave you yet another trolling opportunity, which it would seem you do more of on here rather than actually contributing very much regarding anything that is actually shooting related.

Come on, there's not much shooting stuff going on in these exciting times, so why not indulge in a bit of comradely slagging-off?

I've had really good laughs at some of the opinions expressed on GOM recently..............

"Slagging off" isn't very inclusive or tolerant is it!* :p

Seriously though Pete, can you honestly say you are/have been accepting of everyone you've met in your life?......or have some of them being been merely tolerated?.

I'd say it's pretty impossible and unrealistic for everyone to be accepting of everyone else, all the time.

Having been unpleasant, insulting and aggressive towards me you choose that as a way to evade trying to show that you were correct.

Snaperskaya, being genetically unsociable, I don't have a problem walking away from people I don't like...............and although I don't like them, it doesn't follow that I necessarily disagree with them.

Make of that what you will...............

On any spectrum of attitude to someone from loving to loathing, from "I want your babies" to "if I could I'd boil you alive in sodium hydroxide" there will be a zone where you really don't like them but you should recognise that they have a perfect right to be the way they are and that you do not have the right to be hostile or discriminatory towards them.

You can't really tell someone that they should accept people they don't like, but you can tell them that (in a civilised society) they should tolerate them.
