Blimey - I've heard of some rough estates, but never ones where the disaffected youths carry chain saws... lol

I've been in a pub (in Cromarty) where a guy, after being refused more drink, came back into the pub with a chainsaw, started it up and threatened to carve the place up. Don't ask me what happened next, cos I finished my pint & left, sharpish like!

OOI, if he'd been able to load one, where would he stand, legally, with using it? At first glance it does seem like reasonable and proportionate force to use against someone armed with an active chainsaw in order to prevent a serious crime.
Good luck getting a UK legal length firearm loaded inside a car and bringing it to bear on someone on the drivers side of the vehicle, even if you had it in the passenger seat footwell! Better to use the car itself :squirrel:

And be prepared for your eardrums to feel like they've gone pop discharging a firearm in the confines of a closed vehicle - even with a door open.

Well if this really is a problem I see no reason why FAC holders shouldn't be permitted to carry a handgun to defend themselves while transporting their firearms.

A humane dispatch pistol would probably do it.
