Looking for loads for the above using 175 grain bullets and powders that are currently available.

Where's the old post ? Had some good info on it as I'm wanting the same help.

Viht N100 series powders work as well as anything else. When I loaded the cartridge many, many years ago I settled on N150 which gave excellent results.

Viht provides data for 0.308" 167 and 185gn Scenars. Either use the latter's values for 175s or split the difference in starting and maximum loads.

7.5X55 has a combustion chamber capacity to bore area ratio quite close to that of .30-06 Springfield which is a flexible number, easy to find good loads, and will likewise work best with the same group of powders, ie those in the N140 up to the 4350s. That makes N140/150, Reload Swiss RS60/62, Lovex SO65/70, Norma 204/URP good choices.

Unsurprisingly, the UK Reload Swiss site provides a lot of loads data for this cartridge with loads for the 175gn Sierra MK in Norma brass for RS60, 62, and the rather slower burning 70. IME in other cartridges with similar capacity to bore ratios, RS62 (a true single-based number and no fancy EI deterrents technology) is usually a very good performer without any bad habits burning efficiently and cleanly at lower pressures than maximum levels in more modern cartridges - important in the 7.5X55 given its 3,800 bar / 55,114 psi CIP MAP level, and one I'd prefer to stay well below in a military straight-pull type rifle. Hearsay says though that the rather hotter burning RS60 is the canister version of the bulk Nitrochemie powder that RUAG uses in Swiss government GP31 ammunition.

I did put some info but that appears to have been moderated , not to worry , RS60 is considered to be the ideal powder (and as reloder 17 has been used for a long time ) the Swiss Government cartridge is the GP11 although some manuals refer to it as GP31, not sure why ?

Another fan of N150 for the Swiss cartridge

I've used both n140 and tr50 with equal success with this bullet to match service ballistics. I got better results though, on the target, with 155gr. Match bullets, either Sierra or the privi version.

I found TR140 worked really well on 600 yard loads, you can virtually treat it as a 308Win for closer stuff.

174 7.5 PPU bullet (the one shaped for the K31)
RS60 powder (work your own load ) its slower than N140 and with the barrel length of the K31 more suitable IMHO for the heavier bullets.
I use PPU brass and have done for quite a few years.
the K31 has a very tight leade so any bullet with a fatter ogive shape will need to be set back in the neck.
the G11 and K11 have more forgiving chambers
the 1889 can swallow just about any cartridge bullet combination you can try as long as you don't try to load the die as well (and it would probably take a good go at that ! ) Don't forget the lower pressure rating on this rifle !
use Krag 30/40 loads and work your way up!
