Thinking of going down the 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser road.

This topic I know has been covered before in the past but at this moment in time I’m thinking of buying into this Military rifle series, I would be pleased with the forums thoughts and advice on this, which particular rifle would members recommend ? Maybe what to look out for condition wise!
I have been reading the relevant books on the subject.

We'd recommend an olde 19th century if you want fun and giggles in an accurate rifle, or a CG63 if you want fun and giggles from a super accurate rifle. We have both, love both. The CG63 outshoots some modern Creedmore kit by a country mile...

We had a CG63 fairly cheap to buy and very accurate.

The CG63 is the Crown Jewel as you both say is a very accurate target rifle, (so I have read) and thank you for pointing that out, I was thinking more about the service rifles, more into service than target.
From what I have read even the service rifles are inherently accurate and think that is the road I want to go down, have you any experience with these.

Sadly no but a mate did own one never got to have a go with it so can't comment.

That’s more like I was thinking of in the service rifle, the m96 or maybe the m38, I don’t know anyone who is shooting one so can’t ask their advice that’s another reason for asking on the forum, perhaps someone who is could let me know what they think of them?

The M96 model is ye olde 19th century model we referred to, own and enjoy shooting. It doesn't give up much in terms of accuracy to the CG63. The significant difference between them is probably the sights: the CG63 has match sights and the M96 doesn't.

Thank you both for your extremely helpful replies !
I can’t say that I have ever been that interested in purely target rifles but it certainly is something to think about, I won’t discount them offhand.
On the other hand the purely military rifle does appeal to me, but I must admit that my eyesight is not what it used to be, I’m thinking will it be good enough for iron sights? Can I throw into the mix what do you think about the scoped models the m41 or the m41/B, I think maybe all round they would fall better into my criteria, certainly military, then at least I could see the target ! Let me know what you think.
I have begun to use my scoped rifles more and more I do find them now easier and more pleasant to shoot, hitting the targets better, never been that great a shot in competition, “always the bridesmaid never the bride”.

May I say ‘by sword and musket’ seems to be very well published!
