Or if your doing it in your own workshop, on your own, to a finished lawful/legal spec don't bother messing around with welded on crap to keep it over the lawful/legal length and give yourself grief. Just do it all in one go.
But most importantly.....don't say your doing that on here :D

Richard Pope was demonstrating a 10/22 conversion at the Phoenix meeting a couple of years ago that could be used as a rifle or a long barrelled pistol. To ensure that it conformed to the 60/30 rule at all times including when the buttstock was removed he had permanently fixed the extended bar to the frame of the Ruger.
