The Spetsnaz do a similar thing but with an Anvil tied to each bollock!

As soon as I saw this video I knew someone was going to get tired, forget and run in front of their loaded gun on the ground when throwing the thing, and sure enough it does happen. At least your method would negate that happening but the throws would be significantly smaller and so more would be required. You'd end up looking like Popeye after Olive Oil left him (think about it for a while )

In 3 gun rules you can't go prone with a holstered pistol, your pistol muzzle breaks the 90 degree rule.
