I have been reloading for the past year and a bit now and have become tempted with getting an electronic powder dispenser. I have seen one locally at a good price which is a hornady however there seems to be mixed reviews online. I understand that people will only review something typically if they have had a bad experience though.

So does anyone on here, have a electronic dispenser and how do you rate it?
I am more so asking if anyone has had any experience of the hornady dispenser.

I've had a Hornady for a few years now, can't complain about it at all. Picked it up in Florida for about £150 if I remember correctly.

They're still on eBay USA for around $195-$200

If you look on Ovenpaa's Shooting Shed site that's mine showing the "Thingy" he makes for various dispensers to improve trickle run-over with ball powders.

The new RCBS ChargeMaster Lite gets pretty good reviews, again quite a lot cheaper in the US if you know anyone going over that way :)

Yes I have the Hornady one and am well happy with it. It depends on which powder you use as to how effective it is. Using HFE223 I had to slow the trickle rate right down to avoid overthrows but using Reloader 15 it is spot on if I use it on the slow setting, (Quick enough for me reloading one at a time) It is very accurate and gets the load within .1gn every time. HTH.

I've also got a Hornady one.. bought from Phaedra i seem to remember...

I love it... I'm not a benchrest shooter, and the charges it throws are plenty accurate enough for me.

The only thing i don't like it is using it with ball powders... they bounce everywhere while being trickled, and go all over the bench..
(not a criticism of the Hornady, just an observation...)

Thanks for the comments. Typically I will be using IMR 8208 XBR which is a stick powder so I should be ok then?

I would think so as the Reloader 15 is stick powder.

Target Master Trickler, beam scale and a cheap Lee powder dispenser. Fastest and most accurate method of dispensing powder.

The AutoTrickler is pretty good, as is the TargetMaster, Jimmie Todd's system and, of course, the Prometheus.
Of the machines from the mainstream manufacturers I have used the Chargemaster 1500, which was OK but rather slow (probably not a problem for most though). Given the rather cheap and crude balances employed in the mainstream systems they are not as precise as those listed above (most of which are significantly more expensive), but when I tested the Chargemaster output using analytical grade weighing kit the results were rather better than the manufacturer's claims. Environmental conditions and good weighing technique play a part, as in all weighing, but tuning the Chargemaster for speed may open-up the spread a little.

You wouldn't see any difference on target between any of these systems if the load is even vaguely well developed.

Thanks all, that's additional food for thought. I'm still tempted to buy it, but I'll have a bit more research into the other possibilities suggested first.

Another vote for TargetMaster which I've had for about a year - Brilliant bit of kit!
