Bloody ovenpaa's fault!!!!

#1 Post by Sim G »

So, the beardy, weirdy accuracy nut decides to launch a thread concerning "Black Rifles"........

Gets me thinking about the SGC AR I let go of a few years back and thought I'd fancy another until pe4king relinquishes his to me. But, as I've got my eye on another Marlin  I can't push to another AR of any description but again fancied a "black rifle"

Had a trip to my local gunshop and walked out with a cheap as chips Ruger straight pull Mini 14........ :o

It's already had some work done like a bolt handle extension (which is a horrible big plastic thing that will have to change!) a five round mag, a couple of 20 rounders and a 30 round....

Just been shopping on Brownells for loads of "tacticool" kit as well! 8-)

Yep, there will be cries of they don't shoot for toffee, but there are some things you can add to get acceptable groups.

All I need, another project! :shifty: :G
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Nearly two hours now since you threw some heinous insults at me and then wandered off without even a token picture.

No, I can't yet. Got to wait for the "bits"!

Speaking of which, I had to stop myself for turning this into a major buying fest on the Brownells site. This was a cheap gun and I really want it to stay that way as I've been caught out doing that before....

I spent way, way too much money on my "fantasy" GSG....

A Mini 14, jeez.

I thought I'd have had a wagon load of detractors before now......

Ah, but wait until it's done, loaded for and tested! :run:

I'll give it a good go! :0037:

Firstly, what level do you honestly think it can't reach? Are we just going to go on ability to put rounds on target? Some of the UK forums and sites certainly do eport horror stories! Some claim they can't get the 14 to do better than 5 inches at 100 yards and some a lot worse!!! :o :(

So, what about 3 inches, center to center, for 5 round group at 100? What's the DSC standard?

And how about a wee wager....... Loser has to attend a club shoot in a toutou? :good: Or maybe just a couple of quid to H4H?

Wanna put ya ballet wardrobe on it? :flag5:

I think you will be surprised if you use hand loads it might just do the buisness.
But you are going to have to put lots of rounds through it you will never use the 5 round mag so you may as well sell it me. :good:
