Gents,

I recently acquired an tidy Martini-Henry III - Enfield 1884. Have just made some ammo and it shoots nice. I have been able to find details about the barrel stamps etc.

But interested to find something about the stock markings on my Martini-Henry III.
I think they are regimental marks and have worked out:
DC - Dominion of Canada property mark*
5BCR - 5th 'British Columbia' Regiment
539 - Is this possibly rifle number??

*DC normally in triangle but maybe not all the time??
The information I have found suggests many of the rifles were never issued and were were loaned to Rifle Associations and Clubs.

What do you guys think? Am I getting my facts correct?

5BCR probably means 5th Battalion BCR.

539 could be its rack number.

How it got here will no doubt never get past speculation, the woodwork may not be original to the metal, if only these guns would talk I suspect there would be some internet firearms "experts" who would be choking on their absolutes.
