I've been wanting to put a cheek / comb raiser on my Marlin 1894C underlever for a while now.

I was going to just use something like the Stockade one, but this does not seem to be available anymore and he is non responsive through the website or facebook.

So i was looking at a proper adjustable one to be cut into the stock. although this scares me slightly.

Has anyone done it? or had someone complete it for them?

suggestions welcome.

I have done a few however I did document the way I modified my Sako 75 to adjustable cheek riser and added a few notes to my Journal. This one was done with a coping saw as I only had a 1" blade in the bandsaw at the time, I have since fitted a 1/4" blade which makes such jobs so much easier and quicker. I have the advantage of a Mill with digital read-out however you can also do the job with witness punches and a hand drill if you are vaguely competent with hand tools.

The important part is keeping every thing square and level and as ever measure a few times before committing to the saw :)

I'd be quite happy to give it a go, however the only thing that makes it daunting is the horizontal cut after the angled ones....

Ovenpaa, how much would you charge for doing that type of job as I should be collecting my new 1894 tomorrow and am considering the ways to improve the cheek weld?

Seeing your work ovenpaa and the link the next time I see a BSA Martini International stock on flea bay I will buy it and do this conversion for my Mk2. My rifle has a thumb hole and checkered butt and fore end with a silver inlet disk in the butt with the original owners initials so I don't want to alter that but a spare butt is an answer.

Apologies, I have only just spotted this. I normally charge around GBP150-200 for such a job inclusive of VAT however we are flat out as ever so certainly would not be able to take such a job on for a while.

Thanks, it is mostly to get an idea of price for future reference, as I have only had the rifle down to the range once so far.
And have lots of other things to spend money on first

I have a spare Marlin stock somewhere if I can find it. The butt was chopped down by an inch and therefore the butt piece didn't fit right and was ruined when it was trimmed to fit. I was given it as a gift to practice stripping it down to bare wood.

You can have it to practice on if you pay for the postage.
