Hi

I presently have my 243 zeroed at 100 yds with hornady whitetail 100gr ( 2960fps .405 BC )

I have purchased some 55gr Federal 3850fps NoslerĀ® Ballistic TipĀ® 0.276

Without adjusting my scope, is there anyway of working out the effective zero using the 55gr ammo?

I have posted this on the SD forum, but not quite got the answer.

Eddie.

Yes Eddie shoot the 55 grn ammo at 100 yards and find your point of impact. Then adjust your point of aim accordingly.
Forget all about the theoretical or advertised data or any computer predictions because unless you actually run the ammo through your rifle you will never find out how close to being true any of it is. There is no substitute for range testing with your rifle and ammo, anything else will only be a guesstimate.

What Chapuis said.............such calculations (eg Litz) may "get you on the paper", but in my experience, that's about all.

Theory and practice, rarely the twain meet with exactitude.

Much what I thought really... I was hoping that some one was going to say ... Yes I have done it and it's the equivalent equivalent of a 180yd zero...
