Gun Cabinet Recommendations

Hello all,

Wondering if anyone knows of a 'well priced' ~14 gun cabinet out there? Someone provided a link for one either on here or another forum which was around £250 but I can't for the life of me find it. 8-)

I'm rapidly running out of space and don't have any other locations I could put a second safe, which would be the obvious answer. I'd contemplated bolting a second one on to the side of the existing one, but that one is already connected by its side, rather than its wider back and two bolted together would give significant leverage to pull them both off the wall (the wall to the rear of the safe is just plasterboard).

The cabinet needs to be out of sight, not just to keep the police happy but also the missus! The current one is inside a sliding wardrobe and the obvious answer would be to mirror the same arrangement in the bedroom to the side of the main bedroom but in order to put the safe in i'd lose two rails for clothes and I've been categorically told that ain't happening! The loft isn't boarded out and the joist arrangement means I could barely get a break-down shotgun cabinet against the wall, likewise the cupboard under the stairs isn't tall enough to get a rifle length cabinet under there, gggrrr. I've got a garage with plenty of wall space but I know the police aren't keen on that, plus the temperature varies wildy as its single skin on one side.

So, the cheapest option is to install a wider cabinet in the position of the current one, but the only wider cabinet I've spotted so far is the Brattonsound Titan which is £640-660, which isn't going to work for me!

Ideas?

Possibly an Infac. I have a 700 wide one (330 deep x 1500 high), which is nominally 14 gun. Bought second hand for under £100, but they are also good value new.
It had a top shelf which I cut out and now it holds rifles with 33" barrels. Very happy with it.

One vendor is Ladds Guns. Most models I see in a quick search are much fancier than mine, with linings, lockable top cabinets, shelves in the main body, fittings on the door etc, and new prices seem to be around £350.00.

When I bought mine I don't think it was explicitly tested to the BS, but was designed to it or an equivalent Euro standard. Had no problems when inspected by my FEO.

My current cabinet is an INFAC so looked at the SD14 which you have Rox, i'll have to check the depth for what I need to put in it but it seems like a contender. There is also the SD16 which supposedly holds 16 guns, it is deeper but not as wide so I suspect those 16 guns are bog standard shotguns....

Thanks for the info so far folks :good:

With a new gun potentially coming tomorrow and another S1 shotgun (box mag as well!) in the near future if I can't get this sorted I think i'll have to resort to stripping the non-licensable parts off the guns already in there to make room troutslapping

Just ordered one of these from Greenfield of Salisbury. Happy to take measurements / pics when it arrives if that will help?

Having measured the cabinet I have I've found its actually the same depth as the 14 gun one so that wouldn't be a problem, however if you could have a look at the shelves on the right side of the safe and let me know how easy they are/would be to remove that would be helpful :good:

Will do. Not been advised of an arrival date yet, but I've been told they are in stock at the distributor and it shouldn't be longer than 5/6 working days. The cabinet cant function as a 14 gun without those shelves being removed so hopefully it will be straightforward.

Having looked at the Infac range, i'm interested in the Infac S5 or SD5 but can't find anywhere to find out how much they weigh. Getting my 40KG safe installed last time was hard work, would like something a bit lighter.

How do they compare quality wise with BrattonSound?
