The semolina (definitely Sainsburys) is there to make the charge as consistent as possible and not leave an air gap behind the ball. You can accurately meter it to let you seat the ball just below the chamber mouth and then a thin smear of grease into the mouth (mandatory at international events) is enough to seal and lubricate the ball on the way out.

The more variables the more chance of inconsistencies.

I have never found fillers to give me any benefit on the target.

Just seat the ball onto the powder.

Not being at the chamber mouth makes no difference at all in my experience and there is no reason why it should.

I tend to load off the pistol - Just a couple of seconds to drop the cylinder out and much easier to load on a separate press. Part of the routine is a quick wipe round so never gets to the state where it starts to bind up.
