Troy pump action AR and straight pull

#1 Post by Pesty »

This pump action came out a few years ago apparently this year they are brining it out with a straight pull type charging lever to the side.

Legal over here?

Pump version.

New

In order to help shooting enthusiasts keep running their preferred AR-type platforms in as many states as possible, Troy Industries released the 223 National Sporting Pump-Action rifle a couple of years ago. Many of the state regulations that ban certain rifle features on semi-automatic platforms do not apply those same restrictions to pump-actions. This year the company is adding the SideAction rifle to the lineup which employs a bolt action instead of a pump. An A2 flash hider is pinned and welded to the 16" 1:7” RH rifled barrel. The 10.5" SOCC handguard features M-Lok accessory slots. The side-charging bolt handle is topped with a target knob. The pistol grip, controls and trigger are all mil-spec. The folding shoulder stock is machined from aluminum billet. MSRP: TBA

So they're adding a straight pull to the lineup or is it combined with the pump? If its combined with the pump it aint uk legal, if it isn't, its uk legal.

Found a picture of the straight pull, the upper and lower look like the PAR's meaning you can't buy another upper to run on it (though barrels can be switched and the lower will take aftermarket triggers and other stuff. Its the PAR but a straight pull.

If it gets made for US sales on the same scale as the PAR it might end up being the cheapest straight pull in the uk that's AR based. The stock is the same as the normal PAR 223 though, if it was the non folding optics ready it would be cheaper.

From what I underdpstand removing the pump part just having the charge handle.

I'll see if I can dig something up. No buffer tube or gas tube, can never have been a semi.

There is no buffer tube, if you watch the videos of the original PARS, it was a selling point that it could be lighter and not need one so it could have the folding stock, even fires with it folded and the upper and lower are even not the same spec as a standard AR, a standard AR upper will not fit on. Apparently it was because they interpreted the laws in Connecticut in particular the say that a standard AR lower made post 1994 (barring one Fixed mag example made without a mag release, can't describe why right now) are essentially an "assault weapon" in the eyes of the law so they made the upper and lower non standard but still able to take all the parts to make it legally less questionable.

What advantages/price difference is there to this straight-pull than the ones that are already available over here?
