Am I allowed to buy large pistol primers if I have no pistol slots on my FAC? I want them for reloading brass 12bore shotshells.

From my own experience i'd say yes. Whenever I've bought just primers the RFD has just checked I had the certificate and it was in date, they've never checked what calibres I can own

Thank you. My hesitation is due to one shop i bought large rifle primers from a while back who looked at the slots on my ticket before they sold them to me!

If they ask just tell them what you're using them for!

It works the other way around too, there are constantly people who have sold their marlin or winchester, but still have the primers sitting in the reloading room, i think i had some small rifle primers for ages without anything to load for them, the fal were fine with it, just like powders i suppose..... They did however in my force area used to be quite hot on expanding ammo, ie if u never had a slot for it then you shouldn't ought to have any.... thats my experience of it...
