I keep hearing rumours of an EU ban of some reloading powders, does anyone know any thing about this and will it impact us post Brexit?

its been doing the rounds recently, apparently it is to do with some components of powders that have become subject to restrictions in the same way as lead in petrol, new formulations will have to be devised without these chemicals and US powders are the main ones in question.
I believe the Euro manufacturers already don't use these components.

I believe it's related to the chemicals added to retard the burn properties in gun powder along with lots of other products that are been restricted
Laurie is more up to speed with it all, not surprisingly, however I do believe that the European powder manufacturers have complied with the regulations already so Vhit and RS powders are all good to carry on
Other manufacturers world wide may well not yet complied, I suppose it all depends on how big a market Europe is for them compared to the good old US of A
This may explain why some powders like hodgson are getting hard to get hold of

I think Hodgdon powders are difficult to get for the same reason Sierra bullets aren't easy to find in reasonable quantity. I think the Americans are just buying it all up.

Right now I am sourcing Hodgdon powders in quantity without issues however it does make me wonder for the future, especially as I have some firm favourites such as Varget, CFE223, H4895 and H4831SC. It would be unfortunate if they were to dry up now. It reminds me of the sudden lack of N140 around 10 years ago. I had just found a superb .308 load and even after it came back onto the market I tended to avoid it...

This was put up on the airgunbbs the other day but didn't give a source though I have heard of this before.

Hodgdon has stopped shipping any non eu-compliant powders into the UK (the June 2018 changes) so once current supplies have gone that's it. The following powders are affected: Varget, Bench Mark, BLC2, H1000, H322, H335, H380, H414, H4198, H4350, H4831, H4831SC, H4895, H50BMG, LEVERevolution, Superformance, US869, Hybrid100V, Trail Boss and Retumbo.

And I've just settled on H335 for my 223 loads.
Just wondering whether I should chase around looking for a couple of pounds to stock up with, or change to something that's not on the redundancy list. One of the Swiss RS range maybe? Any other likely alternatives spring to mind guy's??

The sooner you guys get out from under stupid regulations made by EU idiots, the better.

Reload Swiss RS40 and RS50 work well with 223. I shot some 69gr Scenar's this weekend using RS40 and it was repeatedly hitting targets at 600m with 5.7mrad of elevation. Must be travelling around 2,900fps.
