Nice one. I've got a Longbranch Mk4 #1* with the same history as yours. Manufactured in 1943, never issued or shot in service. Donated to the Italian military shortly after the war. Mine came into the UK in 2015, I bought it in March 2016. The CIP proof marks confirm the date as 2015.
Two groove barrel, and shoots like a dream...

I do reload for it. Currently using 41.5grains of Swiss RS50, with 174grain heads. I have got a few at 42grains of the same powder that I want to give a try next time I'm out.
When I got mine i researched it's history "to death", I wanted to know everything that the markings could tell me. CM in a box indicates the date the Italian proof house tested it - as I said in my case it's 2015. CL = 2014, CN = 2016 etc.

I'm no authority on the Lee Enfield, but what I've told you is correct as I remember it. It's been over a year since I've done any research so if I'm wrong...then it's only 'a bit' wrong. I'm sure someone will correct me.
All the best ballkeeper, and good luck with your new old rifle.
