Who is doing a good price on stainless media at the moment?
I'm going to give it a try as the media which came with my tumbler is filthy now (corn cob I think)
Do stainless pins need to be used wet or can they be used dry?

I use the above - works well - have 2 pounds worth in my wet tumbler.

Tried it dry in my lyman 1200, works but not great, in the wet tumbler with citric acid and washing up liquid it takes an hour and they're spotless, including primer pocket.

SS pins in a vibratory tumbler don't work, best option is a very fine sand blasting walnut shell grit.

I bought the 03-06mm 25/52 Mesh but it's a bit fine so something slightly bigger would also work, certainly doesn't get stuck in the flash holes!.

Ahh, so they wont work with the Lyman 1200 then! Thats saved me some swearing and a few quid!

I'm sure I've seen the walnut media at around £30 for 25kg but cant remember where, anyone seen it?
It was sold as reptile bedding or vivarium floor covering or something like that.

It can be found for around £50 per 25Kg as reptile substrate on eBay (still much cheaper than once it's been labeled as a shooter's product), but to get it for much less than that you need to go to a finishing/blasting/polishing media supplier. We ran a group buy and ordered a palette of 250Kg a while back what arrived was the same sacks that I'd previously bought on eBay as a reptile product.

The main thing is to get the right grade - 25/52 grit has worked well for me (and is widely recommended online); coarser grades block flash holes. If you buy from eBay, including via my link above, confirm the grade with the seller.

25/52 grit crushed walnut treated with autoglym metal polish cut 50:50 with white spirit.

Not sure whether it came from the sack I bought on eBay or from the group buy, but it seems to be the same stuff.
