Explosives licence
Excited now.. 1 week until my explosives licence interview.
Just wanted to share as I don't do social media and Mrs Hrun is not excited.
Reminds me of when I took my bike test 5 years after getting my driving licence.. no reason why I should not pass, but I am still a little nervous :-)

Re: Explosives licence
Good luck, I have mine on 25th. As you say, no reason to expect not to get it, but still getting butterflies.
Will have plenty of tea and choccie biccies on hand in case it helps!

Re: Explosives licence
My FEO declined a cup of tea and then ended up staying for a couple of hours. The explosives side of things was basically "How much will you be holding, OK next point" and did not check my storage on this occasion.
Re: Explosives licence
Two hours.. what did you talk about?
We have a hospital appointment booked an hour or so later, I hope it doesn't drag on.

Re: Explosives licence
It is really just a formality, you have reason for the license, certificate holder wishing to use the BP as propellant. There is the H&S requirement for the storage box and its securing, fulfil that and that is it. Five minute job at best, it is a check not a test.

I was beginning to wonder if he was talking about qualifying for a shot firers certificate with all this talk of tests and interviews.dromia wrote:It is really just a formality, you have reason for the license, certificate holder wishing to use the BP as propellant. Re: Explosives licence
I know the reality will be a given, but still get a little nervous for no good reason.
I will have words (politely) if he criticises my storage as I email them a while ago to check if they had any specific requirements and got no response, so I have based it on my own reading..

Re: Explosives licence
All done, took a whole 15 minutes and he has granted my licence.
Funny thing, all he picked up on were the screws on the box. He suggested it should be glued and pinned. I have no idea if it is glued, but expect screws to be as secure as pins.
Anyhow, I said I would check for glue and add if required and he was satisfied.
Happy days, now off to take Mrs Hrun to the hospital for her birthday :-)

Re: Explosives licence
that's because you are adding metal into the mix, the box is there to contain explosion, or rather use up some of the energy if it does go boom, and the screws can then become an issue.Hrun wrote:All done, took a whole 15 minutes and he has granted my licence.
