Ishapore 2A1

#1 Post by Sandgroper »

I got bored today so I thought I'd photgraph some of my rifles.

My 1968 Ishapore 2A1. This is a Gibbs Rifle Co or Navy Army converstion and then I hold of it - so look away it you are squeamish!

Sandgroper, I notice that you have the scout type scope mount on you're rifle, just wondered if you knew there is a better scope mount out there that fits the rear of the rifle allowing the original rear site to remain in place. Here's a link to give you a look at one.

Blu,
I looked at those mounts first, but the won't fit Ishapores.
For .303 Enfields only. Cannot be modified to fit .308.
The charger guide is a different size from the 303 models and so the mount won't fit. However all is not lost - in the new year I going to start casting bullets for Destroyer and the Ishy, so the optics are coming off and the irons are back on.

Actually I did very little to it!

When I bought it, it was presented as a No 5 in 7.62 Nato. I thought if some other bugger could do that to a perfectly good Ishapore, then I could have some fun with it until I put to rights.

All I did  was to put on an ATI stock, a scout scope mount and replace the No5 foresight with a flash suppressor from an FN-FAL. Not much at all.

However, I do promise to restore it back into being as a proper Ishapore 2A1. Honest.
