Whats this die...?

#1 Post by TattooedGun »

I've only used Lee dies, and I recently inherited a hornady die, I believe is a sizing die.

It's out of a 2 die set, if the box is to be believed, but I don't have the other die.

It looks like the attached file.

Few questions:

What is it?

Whats the purpose of the all-thread?

How much is it worth?

Yup - a Hornady re-size/de-capper. The spindle position is adjustable by slackening/tightening the nut on top of the die - the 'threads' just help the nut to grip the spindle better.

If you had the other die - I'd say £20 but without the other die (the seater) it's a bit worthless but maybe a fiver for spares.

Its either a sizer de capper or a universal decapping die. Does it say what caliber its for on the die or the box it came in. Its probably worth more than a fiver if its in good nick.

Sorry, Yeah it's .308, and is what the guy I bought my AI off used to resize his brass for the AI.

Already having a set of .308 dies Its consigned to sitting there. Unused.

Its not in too bad shape, needs some of the sizing lube cleaning out from it, but it looks pretty good.

I'll get some more photos if necessary to see what it is for sure.

I bought the two die set second hand for £20, the one you have does the decapping and sizing.
Careful now/that sort of thing
