Hi all
up here in Inverness at the moment on holiday.
Saw a gun shop and thought i would pop in to see if they stock any 303, or 7.92 rounds.
The guy said he did have 303 stuff and would check there price, he came back and said £35 of which i was ready to bite his hand off!!!!!!!
BUT when i said for a hundred he replied no thats for 20!!!!!!
I knew the average is around the £65ish for a hundred elsewhere
think i will give it a miss, i thought about powder but no, I didnt want another heart attack today!!!!!
regards
douglas

I know which shop you where in and they use their monopoly to the fulliest extent.
I don't buy anything from them unless absolutely necessary.

You should go to Tain or Grantown and check the prices there, don't know if they'll have what you need/want, but if they do - I'm willing to bet that they're cheaper.

That'll be Federal 150 or 180gn PSP sporting ammo and that's around the price you'd expect to pay anywhere for a box of 20 - a quick web search came up with a West Yorks dealer selling it at £33 / 20 - and that assumes your FAC lets you buy it of course! It's not a .303 issue - these are the sorts of prices you pay for any mid size sporting centrefire cartridge made in the USA.

The only FMJ .303 ammo that's on sale in the UK for the last 5 years if not more is the Prvi Partizan Serbian stuff that Krank imports. FNM and the others have all long since disappeared. Kynamco was going to manufacture FMJ or HPBT Match ammo at one time, but doesn't list it on the website. Czech S&B also lists a 180gn FMJ model of the cartridge, but I don't know if any are imported here.

Bisley Range Office was selling S&B 180's last year for the same price as Prvi, I am not sure if they stock it any longer. S&B is the copper washed steel jacket stuff and I do remember someone suggesting every shot is accompanied with sparks as the rifling is ripped out of your rifle. Personal experience shows that the S&B is average at 100 and gets better as you move out, by 800 it is quite acceptable although not a match for hand loaded ammunition. The cases also reload well.

Unless things have changed recently Kynamco do still manufacture .303, they used to have two grades, a normal load and a match load that used SMK's which were produced at the request of Mr S Voake. The interesting side of Kynamco is they build the .303 on original machines and you can always pop in and test it on their underground range if needed.

I have heard of South African milsurp showing up recently and legend has it that crates of Mk MkVII lie unopened in darkened warehouses, probably the same warehouse as the one in the Indiana Jones movies.

I often wonder about India/Pakistan, I bet they are still churning the stuff out.... ;)

Ages back i rang a gunshop for 303 and they wanted £98 per 100.I do still have some remanufactured Kynoco which cost me £35 per box of 50.

Did manage to get some Privi a little while ago for a reasonable £45 per 100 and fortunately my rifle loves the stuff.
