.357 Reloading with GM Cast Boolit

Hi all,

I have the Lyman 50th edition reloading book and just doing some research before the FAC lands, I plan on reloading .357 for gallery rifle use, if I look at Henry Kranks for lead boolits they are stated as 140/ 148 / 158 and 180 grain, these however do not match what is listed in the Lyman book.

They list other grain boolits therefore what do I do regarding loading, as someone who is a complete newbie do I go with the closest match? Or is there another data source for loads for use with GM lead boolits?

Thanks in advance.

Brand of lead boolit shouldn't matter too much, you may notice more of an accuracy effect if you have a poorly fitted boolit or incorrect hardness.

If the mass of the boolit you have does not match the mass of the published load then go up to the next heaviest mass. For example, if you have a 148gr boolit but only have load data for 158gr boolit then start with that. You'll notice that power load tends to decrease with heavier mass projectiles so it's a better place to start.

Go to the powder manufactures cast load data online, for the brand of powder/bullet weight you intend to use.
