Once you have found a magic load that bugholes. Do you think this load will always do it or do you think the atmospherics can change it.
I did a varied load development with my 284 and found some cracking loads one of which is rubbish now.nothing has been changed.the others are still really good.not sure what else it could be.thoughts please

Berger.

The 284 can be a bit of a barrel burner. What might have been 20 thou off the lands 500 rounds ago may be a country mile now. Are you annealing? some loads may be more sensitive to neck tension than others.

Barrel hasn't done 300 firings yet and I checked coal's a couple of weeks ago with the same 3 different make bullets I put aside to check with.throat has not grown at all yet.i can't see my group was a fluke.i shot a 2 or 3 different loads/bullets and all were cutting.cloverleafing.bugholing etc proving really I was doing my bit.its strange......
It's a shame I can't post my load developement target.at the moment my go to 1000yds load is absalutely superb my hunting is now how I want it.i will check time to time to make sure

Variations in powder perhaps? I shoot Eley Match .22, the current lot I'm using is 1070fps, the previous batch was 1050fps. That's a huge difference for such a small amount of powder.
