I suggest that you read Ed Harris's article on "Cast Bullets in Military Rifles" which is lodged in the library here.
There are also many threads/posts here on the subject of loading and shooting cast bullets, which is a tad more involved than just "recipes", loading and shooting cast requires a different mind set and understanding from loading a shooting copper fouling jacketed bullets, the search function is your friend.

Just to give you a rough idea Hobbsey, in MY Win 94 a 118g NOE 313640, sized .309" over 5g of Vihtvuori N310 gave an average of 1012fps and 268 ft/lbs.

Very broad question...the 30-30 is one of the most adaptable cartridges....will shoot cast at 80gns to 170gns with no probs..Marlin twist is 1 in 12...assume the Winnie is the same. I have shot indoors with 80gn cast and 6gns Red Dot..Green Dot....very mild and accurate.
Best cast size 310....for the 308 bore on the Marlin. I also shoot a lot of H and N plated bullets...165gn. I can highly recommend Dodgy Rog's 150gn loverin cast bullets.....
Have shot cast at 200 yds Bisley....no problem. Lots of reloading info on the web.

Thanks for the replies, I've borrowed a mates Lyman cast bullet book and am going through the options on there. I've got shell house 165gn's which should work well with about 7gns of Unique
