Currently, I use a Lyman Gen6 to load for my fullbore calibres and I find it works great with the stick powders I use. However, I tried using some Bullseye (disc/flake powder) and it wasn't so good. It was throwing charges quite a bit off what I wanted so I reverted to my old method.

I have an RCBS Uniflow which I had when I first started handloading. It's repeatable, accurate and works fine. The issue I have is that the set screw used to adjust the amount of powder to dispense isn't easy to set. I have 4 different gallery loads I use with flake/ball powder and each powder charge obviously requires a different screw position. This is very tedious to change on a regular basis so I'm looking to get something a bit quicker to set up.



I've come across two different powder measures which is what I'm looking for, but before I drop a decent amount of cash on this I wanted to know if anyone here has any comments or experience on these powder measures. It doesn't have to be these two but these are the first ones I found which have a micrometer/dial to easily set up the device for repeatable charges. Also, if there are powder measures that don't need to be permanently attached to the bench that would be a big plus since I don't have a lot of space at present.

I use the older Auto-Disks with the Pro powder hopper and elastometer wiper upgrade on both my progressives, they work very consistently, if I can do my part they give almost single hole groups at 25m in 44mag and 300AAC using Nobel GM3, TiteGroup or Viht N310/320 powders.

You can buy a micrometer adjuster stem for the RCBS powder measure.

The RCBS pistol rotor has a 1/2" diameter chamber the Redding model 3 I have is @ 19.64"
Had A Uniflow rifle size a number of years Just fitted the micrometer adjuster its heavier to turn now, the Redding pistol is lighter smoother.

I didn't realise that RCBS sold the micrometer adjustment separately. A quick lookup shows that Spud has this for £53.

David, do you think the Redding/Harrell's device is worth £150 more than the micrometer stem for the RCBS powder measure? Is the added weight of the throw that much higher with the RCBS + micrometer stem?

I second the new Lee drum measures although they are on press options. They do a new bench mount but I've not used it

I've used the RCBS Uniflow powder measure with the micrometer stem for more than 20 years. The separate micrometer transformed using the measure from a slow and tedious chore to the work of a few seconds. Switching between loads now is trivial, and I strongly recommend this (admittedly expensive) accessory.

Looks like I'll be measuring up my drum tonight and ordering the correct sized stem! Thanks all.

No it's not worth £150.00 more.
I bought a second hand Model 3 which are cheaper than the 10x tided it up a bit, made a stand out of materials I had to hand to make it easily portable & suit my needs.

I found that the Uniflow rifle rotor 11/16" did not work well with small charges of flake powder but had to use it for a while & trickle as it was all I had, the Lee Perfect has been consigned to under the bench somewhere.

Try Wilson & Wilson for the RCBS micrometer it was cheaper there even though ring & check for price rises has been displayed on the website for a while.

Hard to beat the Lee Pro auto disc measure for gallery rifle loads.
They don't like ball powders like H110 though - it goes everywhere.
I have two which are at least 25 years old.
Did I mention they are cheap to buy!
