One more ticked of the bucket list. Acquired a P14

I visited Adam (dromia) at pukkabundhooks its a while since I dropped by. I went in looking for a tub of powder and came out with a P14. She is not the prettiest P14 I have ever seen. The woodwork needs some attention. But it will keep me occupied over the winter. I look on it as a restoration project.
The first thing I did was strip the bolt and drop it into a Industrial sonic bath along with the safety ,rear sight, and bolt locking mechanism and any other bits I could fit in. They were all degreased blasted with compressed air to get the cleaning material off. Oiled and reassembled. I left the original sight off and replaced it with a Parker Hale aperture sight and a six hole eye piece. I deep cleaned the barrel using in house solvents. I flushed everything out with methanol, acetone then a commercial bore cleaner. The barrel is mirror bright. I was not to sure about the rifling but I have seen worse. The only way to test the barrel was to shoot it. So that's what I did after a bit of sight adjustment I started knocking down figure elevens at 100 yards. I then moved to 200 if I aimed at the head at 200 they went down. That's good enough for me. Now to restore the old Girl and have some fun with her. I have the 100 PPU cases that I shot through her so I can start reloading for my next outing. A good day except for the torrential rain that came down in the after noon.
A drowned rat comes to mind. It took me hours to clean and dry everything out when I get home.
hmm whats next may be a mosin long rifle that might be interesting I still have reloading gear for the mosin .
