My second firearm....

I've had my FAC for a fortnight now, and bought my first rifle last weekend - a CZ527 Ebony in .223, a lovely little rifle.
A couple of hours ago I got back from Simply Firearms & Ammo in Oldham, where I'd bought a 1943 No4 Mk1* Lee Enfield .303.....
This rifle had been reserved for me since I first went to see it in March of this year. Fair play to Derek as he'd kept it for me - free of charge for all these months.
Looking forward to shooting it at the range next Saturday.

I'd be interested in seeing pictures of the Lee Enfield. Is it 'standard' or sporterized?

It's as it was intended to be, and will remain that way....
If I can work out how to post pictures on this site I'll certainly post a few.

Just the one for now...

Excellent. Although I'd want a slip on stock cover as the last one I fired bruised my shoulder. That all metal stock is not friendly![edit] Is it a metal plate stock on that one? If you don't mind my asking the price?
I have my eye on one that is ~£300 and in ok condition.

The butt plate is black zinc material...
I've seen them selling from anything between £300 & £600, mine cost £450. It's virtually unused, and the bore is excellent and the headspacing is as it should be, with a number 1 bolt-head.

The 303 isn't as bad as the 8mm Mauser so should be quite tame on the recoil. Just make sure you're really getting a good shoulder position with the rifle.
All Enfield's come with a metal butt plate. The standard butt plate was brass but some replacement butt plates are black steel type. I was looking for a spare brass butt plate for 6months, finally found one on eBay.
PS that's a nice rifle you got there! Have fun shooting it.

Have a go with a Jungle Carbine, I certainly noticed the increase in kick when I got mine.

Is that a Longbranch mk1*? Is the butt plate steel or Zamak?
Some dealers are good like that, there's a certain gentleman hereabouts by the name of Dromia who not long ago gave me a similar consideration, for which I am eternally grateful
