Can anyone post a photo of some Ramshot Hunter powder (the actual powder not the tub!).

I've been given some powder that the supplier says is PBC-518 which is the in-house designation PB Clermont use for it before it's re-sold as Ramshot Hunter.

Not exactly a perfect picture but this is what I found on another forum:

That's Hunter, however, checking on the Ramshot website it says all there powders are spherical, the stuff I have is flake.

I know PBC produce their powders in different forms for different end users (Western/Ramshot etc.) so while it may be the same powder the burn rate will be different between flake and spherical.

Edit.

Apparently it's the equiv. of Winchester 4160, PBC name is 410/600 so a fast powder for 410 cartridges and apparently works nicely in underlever 357/38 etc.

Look at the scale. These images are x10 magnification and there is a scale showing 2mm. The powder granules look to be around 0.5mm to 1.0mmin diameter. I've used Ramshot True Blue, TAC and Big Game and the granules of the aforementioned powders look similar in size to the picture.

Indeed, it says Hunter on the photo :)

The stuff I have is flake, I know PBC produce some of their powders as both flake and ball giving different burn rates.

I always thought Ramshot powders were ball type. Looking forward to seeing someone who owns this powder to add a photo.

Yes, Ramshot say all of their powders are double base spherical. All their powders are manufactured by PB Clermont in Belgium, as I said they also produce the same powders for other people in different forms (flake etc.).

The chap I got it off buys powder directly from PBC for shotgun cartridge production, he got about 250Kg of various Explosia (Lovex) powders and I've been using the S062 single base in my 308, 6.5Creedmoor and 260Rem, all with excellent results but he's now out of everything apart from a few Kg of double base D07X.X series, I have some D075.3 which works very nicely in my 308 :)

From what he was told the sample I got should have been the same as Ramshot Hunter, but it's in flake form so the burning rate is faster (which is why he's using it in 12G steel loads) and I know at least one shooter who's using it in his underlever rifles with good results.

So, I'm still looking for a reasonably priced powder for use in my 6.5s, I have about 4.5Kg of the D075.3 and the same amount of Viht N140 which would work if I switch from 140gr to 100gr bullets so that may be the way to go (and typically I'd just bought another 1000 140gr Noslers!).

I've used Reload Swiss RS50 and RS60 in my 6.5x47 Lapua. I buy this locally for £69 per kilo (around £31 per pound) so it's cheaper than Ramshot and Vihtavuori powders.

What powder did you use in your .260, surely that should work in the 6.5CM too?
