Recommend me a SOWR

We fitted another cabinet in the armoury last weekend and it would appear we have some spaces to fill so I am thinking of another SOWR, something at least Pre-titanic era and I would prefer pre-1900 and a bolt action and certainly not something that will break the bank.

Can anyone recommend something suitable and ideally one for sale please.

I may have seen an M1903 Springfield in the special den too! (though it may have been an 03A3 - so well past the Titanic sinking, but prior to most movies on it)

I have a cabinet full of sad old wooden rifles.
Now that I know what you are talking about I would recommend a MAS36. Why not a Mosin Nagant they are cheap.
Barbican armoury have a very nice and different 9mm jobby if you can stretch to £650.

Got one. Great fun to shoot, the only real problem is sourcing magazines - I was lucky enough to be able to get an extra 5 from the U.S. via a forum member. 38 Super magazines for the 1911 can also be modified to work if you can't get originals. 38 Super or 9x23mm brass is the easiest options rather than cutting 223 brass to length just don't use factory Super or 9x23mm ammunition.

Not pre Titanic, David, but well worth considering!

Why not a Mosin Nagant they are cheap.

Not so cheap if you want an original Russian (not Finnish capture) Mosina dated pre-1917.An all original Imperial Mosina with its original Arshin marked rear sight etc is quite a rarity.

The best designed, best manufactured and best finished of all the old military rifles is the Mauser 71/84. If you are in to black powder, they are the best shooters as well.
