Hi hope some of you more experienced peeps can help, I'm in the process of going to get another rifle, Sako finfire varminter (P94s) and it's got the barrel threaded for a mod on the inside, the seller's rfd thinks it was factory done but I can't find can't info on them, any information apreciated.

Maybe Dromia will be along in a moment to help out, assuming he doesn't take the huff at being accused of being screwed up inside...

Are you saying that the rifle barrel is internally threaded? If so I have never seen this on a Sako rifle or for that matter on any other .22 rifle and would very much doubt that it was done in the factory.
If you are saying that the muzzle of the barrel is externally threaded as is the norm then yes it is possible that it was done at the factory. However many imported rifles are threaded by the importers or their agents so while not strictly factory (Sako) threaded they are still regarded as factory threaded and covered by their warranty.

Hope the pic helps, I know some of the finfires get cut down and there's no apparent loss of acuracy, so I'm guessing that this small amount wouldn't either?

I've never come across it myself with a .22 rimfire and I'm fairly sure it's not a Sako Finnfire factory job although they did list a threaded barrel as a factory option but these come with a thread protector, so not a female thread.
Male threaded moderators are used on some airguns:
http://www.tannyokyguns.co.uk/accessori ... r-std.html
or, if it really has got a female barrel thread (rather than just looks like it might have) then a simple adapter would work ok.
http://www.ant-supplies.uk/hunting-prod ... pters.html
Shortening the barrel (within reason) will have no effect on accuracy or velocity as long as a good job was made of the crown.
Finishing the crown with an internal barrel thread is an added complication I could do without.
If it shoots well and comes with an acceptable mod then no problem - If not I would chop of an inch or so and get it recut to a standard 1/2 x20.

This is an odd adapter I have just made. It's to fit a standard moderator to my new Lilja barrel on my Finnfire without threading it.
I may thread it later but this is working perfectly for now.
