F Range at Sennybridge South Wales

#1 Post by Joe Pugh »

Hi all I'm looking for some info on the F range at Sennybridge.

I haven't been there yet but am contemplating joining the Offas Dyke rifle club who shoot there about once a month.

My question is will the F range at Sennybridge be suitable for the older historic rifles like Lee Enfileds, Mausers and things like that?
The reason I ask is I am not sure if targets start at some longer range like 900 Meters? I am not prepared for this just yet. wtf

Anyone have any idea at what ranges / distance the targets start at?

I think that the G range there is out to roughly 350 meters so this one should be within my capability for now :)

May be a silly question but I can't seem to find any info anywhere

Thanks thankssign

Targets start at around 50-ish metres out to around 2000m (the FCSA guys will be able to tell you exactly how far out they go) with plenty of targets to choose from in between.Old battle rifles like Enfields, Mausers and Mosins etc are in their element on F Range, as are more modern rifles of course.

I shoot my old Mosins etc there with ODRC and it is quite satisfying to drop Fig11s out to decent distances and stretch their legs a bit so to speak....last time out I dropped the 900m target with a '39 Mosin, a milsurp 54r and ironsights ramped up to 900m, even did a little celebratory jig!!!.

Just be prepared to get wet as F Range has it's own micro-climate, 3 mile down the road the sun can be out but once you cross the cattle grid the rain can be horizontal!!!.....that said the company makes up for it and it is always interesting to see a wide variety of different rifles being used (the FCSA guys turn long range shooting into an artform!) and a number of members off here are members of ODRC and the FCSA so you get to put faces to names as well :good:

All bookings on F range are FCSA bookings. ODRC members are welcome to shoot on FCSA range bookings. If you intend to shoot then you MUST register your intersting via the FCSA website using your ODRC membership number (put odrc before it)
SENTA are in the processes of implomenting a car pass system, so if you don't log your attendance , you won't get a car pass which will equal no access!

So I am assuming you can get one of these SENTA car passes if you are a member of the ODRC once you have confirmed attendance through they're website or other means of contact?
I haven't joined them yet but more than likely will soon or when the renewals start beginning of 2017.

Thanks for any info

F-range can be great fun with your military rifles, if you can see the targets! I've taken my Yugo M48 and Enfield out to 900m which can be hit or miss (literally!). There are targets around 50m, 200m, 400m and 600m so there's a bit of variety there.

I'm a member of ODRC, and if I recall correctly, you can join anytime and pay a pro-rata fee (i.e. you only pay for the remaining part of the year). It would be a good idea for you to check the range calendar for ODRC to keep up to date with upcoming shoots:

Joe.....noticed from your signature you have a 1929 Mosina, is it an ex-Dragoon updated to 91/30 spec?.
