Just to let you know that John Light, the man behind Brindles sights and triggers died peacefully on the 16th June 2016.

I had the pleasure of spending a day with John at his home in Lightwater a few years ago to see some of the experimental sights he had made.
I believe John was in his mid 80's and during my day with him I discovered he was a cousin of Robin Fulton; in fact he was employed by Fultons for a while before moving over the road to the NRA armoury to take up residence there for a few years.

A lovely man who gave me an insiders view of manufacturing sights & triggers for the target rifle fraternity; he also made a TR rifle which should have gone into production but for an order for 25 rear sights for South Africa. He told me the sights were bread & butter for him and the rifle could wait!
I believe that the rifle is in the NRA museum.

That's very sad, I had the pleasure of purchasing a set of Anshutz elements from him and believe me it was a pleasure! A true craftsman and a gentleman he will be sadly missed. Rest in peace John.

I have a Brindles trigger on my P14 and dare I say it is a better trigger than the one on my Barnard. I have just managed to source a second Brindles which will be my reserve should the one fitted ever get tired.

The name Brindles survives and is under new ownership, I did see a buisness card in Fultons with the new details on.
His house was called Brindles!

Yes, I saw the name Brindles had been resurrected, it might even have been mentioned on here.

I bought some parts from John Light a couple of years back. His "shed" was quite the Aladdin's cave for anyone interested in classic and military rifle shooting: No32 and PPCo sights and casually parts strewn around, jigs, templates, tools, target sights of all shapes and sizes, boxes and boxes of all the little sight parts that you'd never be able to source anywhere else, and so on.

Very sad - John was a very skilled engineer and gunsmith. But his products will live on.
I purchased the rights to the Brindles Sentinel rear sight in 2011 and can supply or service the sights.
I also have some parts for his triggers. I should be able to service them but do not have plans to produce new triggers ( well not yet ).
Just as a warning ....... John did manufacture a trigger to fit the No.4 but he admitted to me that he was not totally happy with them. If anyone has one please let me know. It may be prudent to go back to the original for safety reasons.

Is that a No4 trigger with the "bumps" replaced by two adjustable threaded studs?

I read an article on an after market USA trigger for the No4 a few years ago however it was no longer available so I built one for myself and found it less than ideal. These days I have one with a single adjustable bump, it works when dry fired however I am let to live fire it.

I was not aware of John building something for the No4.
