Are there any periods in the past 10 years when you have not been registered with a UK GP or have consulted medical practitioners other than at your GP practice?

I've been continuously registered with a GP since I was born, but are they asking for details of every hospital visit here?

what sort of renewal question is that! just print off the standard form and return that instead, this looks like one they have dreamed up themselves

Well, the question does make sense within the overall intent of these medical questions.

If you saw a private physician (and you weren't referred to that physician by your GP) then the police want to know about that even if you were simultaneously registered with your GP.

Scenario 1:

You are registered with your GP. Your GP writes an open referral for you to go see a vascular surgeon about varicose veins. The GP will have a record that such a referral is made, and if the police contact the GP about your medical fitness the GP won't be at fault for not mentioning the varicose vein referral since it has no bearing on you having an FAC renewal. In most cases the specialist (the vascular surgeon in this example) will provide a discharge summary or at least a care summary to your GP, so the GP may have the substance of that episode available in your GP file also.

Scenario 2:

You make an appointment with a Harley Street private clinic for a non-standard blood test which isn't available on the NHS. Whilst you are there, the private GP offers you a check-up (which you accept). During this check-up you discuss your recent feelings of anxiety, depression and a general sense of despair. You might get advice from this GP about that matter, but the nature of that consultation is entirely off the radar of your regular GP.
So in this case the police want to know about this private GP and they will be advising him that you are a firearms certificate holder and asking whether they have any comment on that. This private GP may say he has no comment or he may say there are issues with your health.

I think it is over the top and pointless, it should be enough to confirm with the standing questions.

I see they have specifically stuck declaring speeding offences on the form now - that's new. Ironic really, having a criminal offence need not bar one from becoming a police officer and there are quite a few coppers with speeding offences to their name. Do as I say, not as I do vibe.

all my speeding tickets were fixed penalty notices, so therefore i dont have to declare?

besides, surely as police, they know what convictions you have to your name?

i got a dangerous driving conviction when I was 18, I no longer have a paperpart, this was 12 years ago, how would I even go about giving details or dates of it now?

Fixed penalty notices for motoring offences other than parking have to be declared. However, the guidance notes don't mention anything about expired points that have been removed - so how far back are you supposed to go? It seems pointless mentioning speeding fine / endorsements from my teens thirty odd years ago. I doubt they were even carried over onto records when everything went on computer.

So do we now have to list every hospital visit to say A&E, EN&T, diabetic clinic or having a boil on your bum looked as each time you will have consulted a medical practitioner outside of your GPs practice ???

Maybe we should play them at their own game. List EVERY piffling little thing using reams of additional paper tacked to their form until they get fed up with too much information.
