Its been reported on another FB shooting page that Barclays bank have asked a number ~3+ poss more Rifles Clubs for information like: Names & addresses of members, copies of members & club FAC, HO approvals & insurance info etc
Can anybody a club Sec/Treasurer who encounters this please report it here & tell Barclays to Foxtrot Oscar off a short pier! it has been raised with NRA & FLO who will advise them. Meantime decline all requests but do ask Barclays for copy of their information security plan & how they ensure your club data is protected (NB the Data Protection Act isn't good enough). ;-)

so they can see if any members have accounts or business accounts with them and then get rid of them LOL
maybe??
I know they dont allow RFD's to have accounts with them, or at least thats what I was told by an RFD

If this is indeed true I would have thought data protection would have prevented the clubs from sharing such information. A shooting club would not share membership details with the local Supermarket so why share it with a bank?
It all sounds very odd to me.

It does not only apply to Barclays when it comes to RFD's and bank accounts.

More discrimination from a fraudlent bank who manipulated interest rates and laundered money - all of which has gone virtually unpunished!
The potential for them to abuse this info and close people's accounts is quite high - this is prolific in the USA!
Cannot see ANY reason why they need that info.

This issue is growing ......9 clubs now all from different areas report being asked about FAC's, holdings, members etc........
things Barclays have said to Club Reps:
Barclays have just emailed to state they cannot divulge the banks policy for requesting FAC copies ! Then goes onto state by asking questions in relation to firearms it allows them to work out what type of licences and permission is required !
Comment from Barclays "We need to see a copy as the bank is required to check our customers involved in this area are operating within the law. The firearms act 1997 explains:
Clubs need an approval from the Home Office to allow club members (who do not have their own licences) to possess firearms while target shooting at the club.
As this can be revoked at any time, we have no other means of checking than asking for a copy and to prevent any fraud, that is why we have asked for you write ‘copy’ across the copied document prior to sending"
Suggest people alert their clubs Chair / Sec & Treasurer about this & that they are advised to divulge Nothing to Barclays or any other Bank.
Any club officer who provides personal ID / holding data to any 3rd party should be taken out of office. No Club Chair or Sec & certainly not Treasurer should send any data to anyone other than Police/FLO or Home Office without the personal permission of the member .....& that includes the Data Protection Act data too. Even then its best to advise the member of any enquiry made.
