Range design

I need some educated advice on range design.
I have been looking at two options:
1) Precast concrete culvert section 6m x 3m
2) A cold rolled steel building with concrete floor and precast side panels combined with ceiling baffles.
Can anybody advise me if it is worth pursuing the concrete culvert method? will it work out more expensive than a conventional building?

Best bet is to look at the relevant designs in the JSP and speak to the NSRA or NRA. Both NGBs have been very helpful with information about both indoor and outdoor ranges for small-bore and pistol-calibre/full-bore range designs. You might find you are over engineering it, which is fine but possibly a more expensive way to do it.

It's a quantity surveyor you need to speak to not the NRA/NSRA if its costings your after.

A quick price up of the concrete pipe sections and you are looking at 16k for a 100 mtr tunnel
So with a bit of complex maths thats 32k for the tunnels pictured on the Calton Moor site just in pipes.
Thats some serious money when you add excavation, electrics and building works etc
Nice though, wish I could afford a range like that and certified to the biggest calibre allowed in the UK up to 4000fps

Calton Moor seem to make it pay though. I've been there a couple of times, they are usually booked up four days in advance.

Now that's an interesting thought........(goes off to look at land to buy and concrete pipe)
