I have been offered a lovely little Sako 75 Varmint 22-250, the twist is 1:14 with a 23.5" barrel and I was thinking of starting with a 50-53 grain bullet with some IMR4895 or maybe N140 behind it, does anyone have any thoughts or recommendation for powders and bullets for such a rifle? It will be used for Vermin control.

Accuracy load in Ruger No1 75gn Vmax 30.5 gns N140.

Obviously work up with care as this is around the Vihtavuori maximum recommended load

With the 1:14 twist it would struggle with the heavier bullets. The powder people use around here is CFE223 which seems to be well regarded so I can soon put my hands on some plus I have some Varget here which I can try as well.

I used SMK 52gr bullets in Sue's .22/250 and Varget powder but do not have data on how much I used that was passed onto the new owner.
The rifle was a CZ can't remember the twist rate but remember it did not like heavy bullets over and including 69gr.

There was only one powder for me in .22-250, H380. Sierra 50gn SP, 41.0gns for about 3750fps out of a 24" Ruger.
