I'm looking for a selection of "sanding backers" and edge savers (as Larry Potterfield calls them) for when i start to restore my William Powell stock. Google isn't turning anything up so can anyone help?

Restoring a stock by sanding?
Interesting.
Any photos?
For general sanding I use cork blocks, lime wood blocks easy to shape and various aluminium sections like T bar for good grip.
The only gun wood I have ever sanded has been on new over size wood that needs fitting/finishing or the wood with kit guns.

I've sanded a stock when restoring before - mostly a fine paper to smooth down the fibres after raising dents using steam. I've also used a coarser paper after chemical stripping to remove all traces of stain and varnish where generations of scuffs and scrapes have worked it into the wood.
I just use offcut wood blocks for the coarse stuff and fingertips for the finer.
The above was done on battered club target rifles rather than nice old guns of course...
